Cowboys Star Suffers Brutal Leg Injury During Training Camp [VIDEO]

Cowboys player suffers knee injury in camp.

Concerning video from the first day of Dallas Cowboys training camp quickly circulated after PJ Locke suffered an injury. The clip shows the player’s leg bending in an unnatural manner while backpedaling and planting on the left knee.

Historically, non-contact injuries are never good for football players. It usually means that their season might be in jeopardy. Locke was forced to leave the field early and head toward the medical tent alongside the head trainer.

Initial fears of a serious ligament tear were raised by the awkward mechanics visible in the footage.

Locke, who went undrafted in 2019, fortunately got some good luck.

The Dallas training camp grounds hosted an incredibly somber scene today. Sadly, the crucial defensive franchise piece suffered a devastating physical setback. In an official video post, PJ Locke sustained a painful-looking leg injury during a heavy scrimmage sequence.

The talented gridiron defender watched his leg bend backward in an entirely unnatural direction. The hard-hitting safety earned a prominent role in the secondary unit this summer. Meanwhile, the team trainers rushed to the grass to assess his severe lower-limb injury.

Because the roster depends on his deep safety coverage, his presence matters tremendously. His sudden medical absence creates a massive defensive void for the franchise.

What looked like a terrible injury for Locke turned out to be a hyperextended knee. That is the best-case scenario for him.

Locke was one of multiple secondary additions the Cowboys made this offseason. He signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the Cowboys. He previously spent six years with the Denver Broncos.

Just last year, he registered an interception in the AFC playoffs to help seal a win over the Buffalo Bills.

During the 2025 NFL regular season with the Denver Broncos, Locke had 16 total tackles. It was his lowest since 2021.

Coming over to the Cowboys, PJ Locke reunites with new defensive coordinator Christian Parker to bolster the secondary room coverage. Because the coaching staff values his elite communication skills and versatility, his availability remains a top priority.

Ultimately, his brief medical absence will allow younger roster longshots to secure additional practice snaps.
