The Philadelphia Phillies and Miami Marlins may be rivals on the baseball diamond this weekend, but the two teams and star center fielder Harrison Bader came together to give a kid the memory of a lifetime after a selfish adult fan nearly ruined his special day.

In the fourth inning of Friday night’s game at LoanDepot Park, Bader crushed a home run into the left field seats to extend Philadelphia’s lead to 5-1. The story should have ended there.

The NBC Sports Philadelphia cameras caught a male Phillies fan running over to retrieve Harrison Bader’s home run ball, which he gave to his son. But a woman Phillies fan then came over and angrily confronted the father in front of his kid, so the man decided to end the dispute by handing the ball over to her:

Thankfully, this ridiculous incident regarding Harrison Bader’s home run ball led to a happier ending for the young Phillies fan and his father. On their broadcast, NBC Sports Philadelphia explained that the Marlins learned of the incident and awarded the boy with a prize pack and multiple baseballs:

And to make this whole story more heartwarming, the Phillies set up a meeting with Bader and the young fan, who got to take home an autographed bat from the star himself:

Who said, “There’s no crying in baseball,” again?

The Phillies acquired Harrison Bader in a blockbuster move with the Minnesota Twins ahead of the trade deadline. And boy, has Bader been the ultimate difference-maker in Philly’s lineup.

In 29 games with the NL East club, Bader is batting .304 with an OPS of .875, both well above his career marks of .245 and .711, respectively. Throw in the recent signing of former Los Angeles Dodgers World Series hero Walker Buehler, and the Phillies have more than enough experience and leadership to end a 17-year championship drought.

Headed for a fourth straight postseason appearance, the pieces are there for the Phillies to go on another deep run and claim their third World Series title.
