Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy has fired back at ABC, accusing the network of pulling a “bait and switch” during a recent interview that he says went sideways.
Portnoy is already facing intense backlash after an antisemitic sign appeared at his Barstool Sports bar in Philadelphia over the weekend. A group of patrons ordering bottle service reportedly requested the offensive sign — and, shockingly, staff members complied.
Portnoy, furious over the incident, announced he had fired those responsible and hinted that he knows who orchestrated the stunt.

Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy has slammed ABC in a new video, accusing the network of a “bait and switch” following an interview gone wrong.

Portnoy is under some pressure on the back of an antisemitic sign being hoisted at his Barstool Sports bar in Philadelphia over the weekend. The controversy stems from a group of patrons who ordered bottle service at the establishment and requested signage reading “F**k the Jews” along with it.

For whatever reason, the bottle waitresses obliged, leading to a social media storm.

An angry Portnoy revealed having since fired the people responsible, while he claims to have an idea of who put them up to it.

In his latest rant, the Barstool founder reveals that Philadelphia’s 6ABC Action News contacted him for an interview. Portnoy claims the network “begged” him but switched the reporter at the last minute.

 

Things went sideways after the interviewer suggested that Barstool Sports and Portnoy’s involvement facilitate such behavior. The interview ended when he slammed his laptop shut.

“So @6abc begged me to do an interview about the incident at our bar. Since it was local I agreed. Then the reporter tried to say Barstool and I and white men were responsible for the incident,” he wrote.

He ended by repeating “F**k ABC” a few times, saying he had forgotten how much he hates mainstream media.

Dave Portnoy is Jewish and has forcefully condemned the actions of those responsible for displaying the hateful words.

However, given that the bar belongs to him, some will hold him responsible, whether or not he had anything to do with it.
