Syracuse Orange football head coach Fran Brown was in no mood to celebrate his team’s victory over the UConn Huskies on Saturday afternoon, to say the least.
Fran Brown’s team narrowly escaped with a 27-20 home win over UConn in overtime to avoid a disastrous 0-2 start. Despite the victory, Brown wanted his players to know that simply winning isn’t enough to satisfy him.
Christian De Guzman of SB Nation’s Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician website shared a video of coach Brown making his players run sprints after the game. If you missed the game? Judging by the players’ body language, you certainly wouldn’t have guessed that the Orange emerged victorious.
The Orange will look to put together a better team effort when it hosts the Colgate Raiders next Friday.

A simple look at the box score (via ESPN), and it’s indeed a bit of a miracle that the Orange won. They lost the turnover battle 2-0, the time of possession battle (33:24 to 26:26) and were 5-15 on third downs.

Luckily, quarterback Steve Angeli saved his best for when it mattered most. He finished with 33 completions for 417 yards and two touchdowns, with wide receiver Justus Ross-Simmons catching the game-winning TD in overtime.

Next up for the Orange is a home game against Colgate. That contest should give their players an opportunity to fix their issues. And they better take advantage, because after that they have matchups against no. 8 Clemson, Duke, and no. 17 SMU.
