Draymond Green is one of those players who definitely knows how to rattle his opponents.
In his impressive 13-year career with the Golden State Warriors, he’s earned a reputation as one of the best defensive players. And at times, he’s labelled as mostly a negative character.
But despite his fiery on-court demeanor, there’s no denying that Green is ultimately a winner. His passion and intensity have been key in helping the Warriors clinch four NBA titles.
Now at 35, Green is still bringing that same confrontational energy to the 2025 NBA playoffs. With just nine games played so far, he has racked up five technical fouls and two flagrant fouls. His latest technical came during the Warriors’ Game 2 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he threw an elbow in the direction of Naz Reid, sparking some heated moments on the court.
After the game, Green spoke out against the labeling he receives, particularly the stereotype of being “an angry black man.”
“I’m not an angry black man. I’m a very successful, educated black man with a great family. And I’m great at basketball, great at what I do. The agenda to try to keep making me look like an angry black man is crazy. I’m sick of it. It’s ridiculous,” he said.

You could feel the depth of his frustration in his words.
On Thursday night, when the referees hit him with that technical foul, you could see how upset he was. He didn’t hold back, yelling at the refs, and in response, head coach Steve Kerr decided to bench him for about six minutes.
But Green didn’t stay down for long; he returned to the game ready to give it his all.

While the Warriors have advanced to the Western Conference Semifinals, Draymond Green is really close to bad news.
Currently, Green is in a precarious position regarding potential suspensions. He’s only two technical fouls or flagrant fouls away from facing a one-game suspension.
“Players receive a one-game suspension after their seventh playoff technical and a one-game suspension after accumulating four flagrant points. Green is already at four technicals and two flagrant points at the end of the first round,” Anthony Slater of The Athletic wrote.

Green is aware of the stakes and has expressed his intent to maintain composure during the series.
