One of the namesake stars from Dancing with the Stars recently made headlines after opening up about behind-the-scenes drama. Since then, a few of the show’s professional dancers have responded to these claims. In addition, a few of the show’s other famous alumni have also responded to the story.

One Dancing With The Stars Contestant Made Claims About The Show During A Radio Appearance

Dancing with the Stars recently returned for Season 34 back in September. The season is coming to an end, with the finale set for November 25, 2025, as well as a holiday special coming out in early December.

Most of the stars who’ve appeared on the show have shared fond memories, often comparing it to a family. However, one recent contestant made headlines after sharing some surprising accusations.

As previously reported, Corey Feldman appeared to have made claims about something “toxic” about the show in a preview for the Gurvey’s Law radio show. According to Daily Mail, he shared, “There was a lot of stupidity in the mudslinging that went on behind the scenes. Actually there, everything was great. But the behind-the-scenes drama and BS that people throw around that show, I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s the worst, like, most toxic.”

“You start reading these things in the paper, like, ‘This person’s mad at this person. These people aren’t talking to each other.’ Or, ‘Are people working hard enough?’ ‘Corey Feldman destroyed the show. He destroyed the whole show because he was such an egomaniac it’s so difficult to work with.’”

However, Feldman assured any issues mostly happened behind the scenes, “On the set everybody gets along. Everybody’s great. Everybody’s happy. You’re working hard. You don’t even have time to look up. You’re just working.”

During his time on the show, the former child star was paired with pro dancer Jenna Johnson. He was sent home during week two’s double elimination.

Since then, two figures associated with the show have issued a response concerning the story. During a post on Instagram from People, linking to their coverage of the story, a few familiar names appeared in the comments: Valentin Chmerkovskiy and Sharna Burgess.

Valentin shared a few emojis. One was scratching their chin as if thinking, another had a zipped-up mouth, and the last one had a long nose, likely a reference to Pinocchio. Sharna wrote, “How odd…,” similarly sharing a monocle-wearing emoji, which was also shared by Valentin. This represents a state in being deep thought.

Other prominent figures also shared their responses to the story. Musician Lindsey Stirling, who competed on Season 25 of the dancing competition series, shared, “I only had the best memories come from my time on DWTS. From the producers, to the makeup team to the camera men to the dancers, everyone was so kind and respectful. It was literally a dream experience.” Amy Purdy, who also competed during Season 18, also wrote, “Never experienced anything toxic when I was on the show.”

Taking to social media, many fans have weighed in on the situation. A few have worried that Feldman’s comments were being taken out of context. Some comments included:

“I think the headlines are salacious and misleading. he said everyone AT the show was great (even ‘bts’), it was the toxity AROUND the show that he complained about. and the articles purposely making it appear that he’s trashing DWTS is actually a good example! ;)”
“I’m not a Corey fan at all but I don’t like how some of the pros and former contestants are rushing to the comments to invalidate his experience when it’s so obvious that they didn’t bother to read the actual article.”
“I’m not gonna lie, all these folks saying how NOT toxic the show is only makes me side eye it lol considering they didn’t even read the article.”
