Hilaria Baldwin is the controversial contestant on Season 34 of DWTS. She made headlines in recent years for allegedly pretending to be Spanish despite her upbringing in Boston, Massachusetts. The social media influencer has been roasted online for pretending not to know how to translate certain words from Spanish to English.

Her husband is even more controversial than she is. She married actor Alec Baldwin in 2012. They have seven children together. He was charged with involuntary manslaughter after the shooting death of crew members while filming a movie in 2021.

The embattled couple took to reality TV to repair their reputations. They starred in TLC’s The Baldwins earlier this year. The show was canceled after one season.

Now his wife is showing off her dance skills on DWTS. Hilaria Baldwin opened up about why she’s “uncomfortable” on the celebrity dance competition.

Hilaria Baldwin’s First Dance Wowed Judges

Alec Baldwin’s wife was among the fourteen celebrities and their pro partners to take the dance floor during the DWTS Season 34 premiere. She performed a Cha-Cha to Jennifer Lopez’s song “Let’s Get Loud” with her partner, Gleb Savchenko. He hinted last month that he wasn’t returning to the show after his showmance and contentious split with his Season 33 partner, Brooks Nader.

Hilaria and Gleb’s first dance together wowed the judges. Carrie Ann Inaba was forced to miss the premiere due to illness. The remaining two judges, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli, each scored the routine 7 for a total score of 14 out of 20. The couple landed in third place after Robert Irwin and Witney Carson, and Mark Ballas and Whitney Leavitt. No one was eliminated on the first night. But with the ongoing boycott of ABC, will viewers tune in this week?

Hilaria Baldwin Reveals Why She’s ‘Uncomfortable’ On The Show

Hilaria Baldwin is one of several celebrities from this season with a little dance background. She grew up dancing and competed in ballroom events decades ago. She addressed her prior experience in an interview with PEOPLE magazine.

“I mean, some of it is like visiting a familiar friend when you’re older, and you’ve had a lot of children, and broken some bones, if you can relate to that,” she said. Hilaria added that Gleb makes her dance at a “higher level” than she’s used to.

The DWTS contestant said she’s focusing on “the quality, the footwork, the authenticity” of the routines instead of letting Gleb “throw me around the dance floor.” Her high scores on the first night reflect her dedication.

But Hilaria Baldwin admitted that learning the dance routines is “uncomfortable and embarrassing sometimes.” But that’s what she signed up for.

“I didn’t sign up for this to be comfortable. I signed up for this to do hard things and to be brave,” she told the outlet.

Her husband has reportedly already been causing issues backstage. Does Hilaria Baldwin have a chance at taking home the Mirrorball Trophy?
