Malika Andrews and Shams Charania

Shams did not find it funny.

Shams Charania has found himself at the center of a media beef after breaking news about Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

The Oklahoma Thunder guard has won his second-straight MVP this season. However, he’s since gone down 0-1 to the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals.

The thing is, the ‘NBA on Prime Video’ was tasked with announcing the news on Sunday. Consequently, their crew of Taylor Rooks, Blake Griffin, Steve Nash and Udonis Haslem were all pretty upset.

Charania literally stole their Thunder by dropping the scoop on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Griffin did not hold back.

“What are we doing, man?” he asked. “It’s Sunday, Shams, go to brunch… You nerd.

See the video below:

As you can see, the network was in lockstep with the former high-flyer, captioning their post, “It’s Sunday Shams go to brunch.”

The NBA insider joined Malika Andrews on ESPN’s ‘NBA Today’ on Monday and received a cheeky welcome.

“Let’s say hello to our senior insider, Shams Charania, who joins us fresh off brunch,” Malika quipped.

Shams did not find it funny.

He kept a straight face. Moreover, he got straight down to business.

Shams did not acknowledge the joke as he kept things moving, announcing that Thunder forward Jalen Williams was clear to play in Game 1.

“If I send u this…means ain’t s**t funny 🤨,” one fan wrote.

“Shams is like: Janice STFU 😂💀,” another laughed.

Breaks billion-dollar NBA news for a living and somehow still got introduced like a guy who just finished avocado toast 😭,” a comment read.

“Shams breaking MVP news at sunrise and getting roasted on live TV the next day is nasty work,” someone pointed out.

Shams was clearly having none of it. But next year’s MVP race will be way more intriguing simply because of it.
