Fans Accuse 3x WNBA Champion of Intentionally Ignoring Caitlin Clark During World Cup Semis [VIDEO]
Caitlin Clark can’t stay away from controversy.
Team USA reached the World Cup final, while the internet stayed on one possession. The United States beat Spain 76-66 in Saturday’s semifinal in Berlin. The game stayed tight through three quarters, then the Americans pulled away late.
Caitlin Clark played about 17 minutes off the bench. She finished with one point, one assist and one rebound. That line is why the clip exploded. Jackie Young had the ball. Clark stood open. Young turned and found Breanna Stewart instead.

This is not the first time those two have shared a viral moment. Early in the tournament, Young’s reaction to Clark’s 3-pointer made the rounds. Another clip showed the Aces star seemingly walking past Clark for a handshake.

Kara Lawson has stuck with the veteran starting group. Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young have run the backcourt. Napheesa Collier, Kahleah Copper and Breanna Stewart have opened up front. Clark, Paige Bueckers and Angel Reese have come off the bench.
Lawson has already said she likes the starts she is getting, even though rotations can change. She is not hunting a rebuild in a gold-medal week. That answer did not land with Clark’s crowd. They want the ball in her hands when she is on the floor. Many criticized Young on social media.
“Never mind what I said about Jackie Young. She looked right at an open Caitlin Clark, looked the other way. Refused to pass it to her. I’ve seen so much hatred for one girl,” one said.
“Not only does Caitlin Clark get to the play the least amount of minutes, she also gets looked off like this,” another said.
“I legit think Jackie Young would rather throw the ball to a fan in the crowd than Caitlin Clark… She just looked her off wide open to throw a spinning no look to Stewie that only wasn’t a turnover because Stewie has a 7 foot wingspan,” another wrote.

France is next. That is the same country Team USA met in the 2024 Olympic final. Gold is one game away. The locker room does not need a passing scandal. The timeline already has one.
Clark is wearing Diana Taurasi’s old 12. Taurasi called her the right player to take it. The World Cup version of that story is messier.
Jackie Young has also led Team USA in scoring for stretches of this tournament. That is the other side of the argument. She is hunting her shot because she has been one of the few consistent scorers. Fans do not care about that split when Clark is standing alone on the wing.
