Throughout his career, Seacrest has been known for his hosting duties on a variety of shows. This includes American Idol and Wheel of Fortune.
In addition to this, Seacrest also famously sat alongside Kelly Ripa as her co-host on Live with Kelly and Ryan. Seacrest joined the Manhattan-based talk show in 2017, taking over from Michael Strahan. He soon left in 2023, with Kelly then being joined by her husband, Mark Consuelos.

Despite this, Seacrest and Ripa still remain on friendly terms with each other and are known to reminisce on their time as co-workers. Recently, Ripa discussed a bit of a problem the American Idol presenter had during a discussion with Consuelos on their Live show.
Undergarments were a topic of discussion on the April 2 episode of the show. Mark shared a bit of advice, “You should make sure you have a cotton crotch.” Turning to Ripa, he then name-dropped his predecessor, saying, “I heard that [the] previous guy here, Ryan Seacrest, would split his pants here a lot!”
Seacrest Himself Talked About A Similar Incident Back In 2022 During American Idol
For her part, Ripa admitted, “He’d split his pants constantly.” She then asked Live producer Michael Gelman if he remembered Seacrest having these problems. She asked, “Do you remember when Ryan would split his pants just doing random [things]?”
Gelman also acknowledged that there were quite a few “wardrobe malfunctions.” Describing Seacrest, he shared, “He liked a tighter fit, but then he’d do athletic things…” Ripa interjected, saying that Seacrest didn’t have to be athletic. She shared, “He bent over once! He picked up a tissue, and he split his pants!”

For his part, Seacrest has been somewhat open about this problem. As noted by TV Insider, during a live Idol episode in 2022, he shared that he had such a wardrobe malfunction on live TV. He shared, “There was just panic about it, and we changed it.” Reportedly, he even had to switch to a “shorter, tighter elastic underwear” after a previous “issue with his” original pair.
