Jeff Sperbeck, the former agent and longtime close friend of NFL legend John Elway, has tragically passed away after suffering a traumatic brain injury in a horrific golf cart accident.

According to TMZ, Jeff Sperbeck passed away at 1:10 a.m. on Wednesday after suffering serious injuries in a golf cart accident four days earlier. Sperbeck was on life support at the Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California.

Sperbeck was 62.

TMZ reported on Tuesday that John Elway was the driver of the golf cart carrying Sperbeck in La Quinta, California. According to the outlet, Sperbeck suffered “a traumatic injury” after falling off the golf cart, rolling and hitting his head on asphalt.

Elway reportedly made the 911 call, and Sperbeck was “unconscious but still breathing” when paramedics arrived. The two men, along with their wives and Elway’s son, were leaving a Stagecoach party that evening before the horrific accident, per TMZ.

Sperbeck and Elway remained close friends long after his NFL playing career, opening up the 7Cellars wine company in 2013. The two began started working with Napa Valley-based winemaker Rob Mondavi Jr. to begin their booming wine business.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Mr. Sperbeck during this devastating time.
