Amid the celebration of life for the late Vice President Dick Cheney, George Bush took to the podium to deliver a heartfelt eulogy for his former VP, who served under him during both of his presidential terms.

Bush praised Cheney, saying that his ‘abilities were self-evident’ and that the former politician was ‘without need of calculation or self-promotion.’

He spoke toĀ funeral goersĀ about how he chose Cheney to work inĀ the second-highest seat in the nation,Ā saying, “At such a moment, most in this position would have jumped at the chance. But Dick stayed detached, and he analyzed it. Before I made my decision, he insisted on giving me a complete rundown of all the reasons I should not choose him.”

“In the end, I trusted my judgment. I remember my dad’s words when I told him what I was planning. He said, ‘Son, you couldn’t pick a better man,’” he said.

“His talent and restraint exceeded his ego,” Bush continued. “Even before the Cheney name reached a national stage, people always saw something in the name. Solid, reliable, and rare.”

He also noted that Cheney was a ā€œdecent, honorable man.ā€ ā€œHistory will remember him as among the finest public servants of his generation – a patriot who brought integrity, high intelligence, and seriousness of purpose to every position,ā€ Bush shared.

However, not everyone was pleased with his tribute. “This praise is beyond tone deaf. Cheney pushed us into endless wars built on proven lies that killed millions and bankrupted America while his companies got rich. Calling that solid and reliable is exactly why people no longer trust the establishment with power. History already judged him and it wasn’t kind. Respect the dead all you want but don’t rewrite the blood on his hands. Facts over feelings. Change my mind,” one wrote onĀ X.

“One corrupt a–hole singing the praises of his fellow a–hole,” another slammed. A third chimed in, “Two evil guys. Hypocrite frauds.”

One noted the war, saying, “I hope he mentions how great it was to be his hunting buddy and what great ESP he used in declaring WMD.”

“Cheney: Hey George, When you get down here, bring water! It is hot as hell down here,” one more brutal viewer joked.

Towards the end of Cheney’s life, the politician remained a hardline conservative, but became largely isolated from the Republican party following his intense criticism of PresidentĀ Donald Trump.

Cheney branded Trump a ā€œcowardā€ and called him the ‘greatest-ever threat to the republic.’

Trump and currentĀ Vice President JD VanceĀ were not included in the funeral services for Cheney.
