Travis Kelce’s raw admission hints at deeper trouble.
Travis Kelce didn’t try to hide the Kansas City Chiefs’ issues. He faced them head-on.
On the latest episode of New Heights, the podcast he hosts with his brother Jason, he admitted that both he and the team are struggling after their tough Week 14 loss to the Houston Texans.
Travis caught only one pass for eight yards in the game. In the fourth quarter, he dropped a throw that ended up being intercepted by Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair and looked disappointed afterward. With that, the Chiefs went on to lose 20-10 at Arrowhead Stadium.
He skipped his postgame media session, but later, Travis explained the reason behind it.
“It’s been a tough f***ing go around for the past two days,” he said. “You put in all this f***ing work in hopes that it pays off, and right now, just for whatever f***ing reason, man, it’s little things, it’s, I don’t know, discipline.”
He said he keeps trying to fix the issues. “I keep thinking if I show up to work and I put in the work and I fix the issues through my practice habits and through perfecting the game plan and my fundamentals and what I’m being taught and go out there and try and play my a** off for my guys next to me, it’s all going to come together like it has in years past and this year is just not, man.”

The Chiefs now sit at 6-7. They need to win their final four games and hope the rest of the AFC helps them out. That reality led Jason to point out something that many fans already feel.
“This was the first time in, what, nine seasons you guys aren’t going to win the AFC West or whatever it is since 2015?” he asked.
He said the breaks just have not gone Kansas City’s way. Kelce nodded but did not look for excuses.
“We got four games left and [I’ll] go put my f***ing heart on the line for these guys because they deserve that,” Travis added. “Chiefs Kingdom, you guys deserve that. And we’re going to keep this thing f***ing rolling, man.”
Jason tried to calm things down by saying the interception happened because Patrick Mahomes made a tough throw. But Travis didn’t use that as an excuse. He stayed focused on improving and looking ahead. Mahomes also praised him for everything he has done throughout the season.
The Chiefs must also bounce back quickly before facing the 9-4 Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15.
“We got four games left and I’ll go put my fing heart on the line for these guys because they deserve that,” Kelce said. “Chiefs Kingdom, you guys deserve that. And we’re going to keep this thing fing rolling, man.”
