Trista and Ryan Sutter will celebrate twenty-two years of marriage in December. They met on the first season of The Bachelorette. After living in Vail, Colorado, for years, the couple moved to Denver, Colorado, in 2023 with their two kids.
The couple are proud parents of a daughter, Blakesley, 16, and a son, Max, 18. Trista Sutter went full mama bear mode to warn people not to mess with her kids after a shocking allegation was made online. Keep reading to find out what had the Bachelorette star livid.
Season 1 Bachelorette Couple Going Strong Despite Divorce Rumors
In May 2024, Ryan Sutter took to social media to mourn the loss of his wife. Trista wasn’t dead, but she’d gone somewhere, and he was waiting for her to return. His posts about her absence sparked speculation that they were divorcing after over twenty years of marriage.
It turned out that Trista was out of the country filming Season 3 of Special Forces. Bachelor Nation star Ali Fedotowsky-Manno was also on that season. Neither lasted very long.

Ali left at the end of Episode 2 due to an injured finger. Trista quit in the next episode due to physical exhaustion. Once she reunited with her husband, she cleared up the divorce rumors and revealed her marriage was stronger than ever, despite her husband’s ongoing medical issues.
Trista Sutter Livid, Threatens: ‘Don’t Mess With My Kids’
As the very first Bachelorette, Trista Sutter is well-versed in living life in the public eye. But despite her reality TV fame, she lives a mostly quiet life with her husband and kids in Colorado. The mom of two took to social media to address a rumor circulating about her son, Max.
She said in an Instagram post that she received a text from a friend about a post they’d seen online claiming that Trista is about to be a grandmother. The post alleged that Max’s former girlfriend was pregnant.

“I got a text from a friend. Her daughter used to date my son, Max, and I’ve posted pictures about them when they were together, and those pictures — as well as pictures of my family — have been used for clickbait,” she said.
Trista’s first reaction was to laugh, but then the anger set in. “The biggest reason for that is that it’s a lie. The second is because they’re using photos of our children without permission,” she said about why she was livid.
“It’s one thing if it’s me; I can just ignore it because I know it comes with the territory,” Trista Sutter said. “It’s another thing that it’s my children.”
Another Bachelorette Star Is Expecting First Grandchild Soon
“Ignore/block/report/sue. That is the question,” she wrote in the caption. Trista Sutter made it clear that she’s not going to be a grandmother any time soon.
“Let me clarify: I’m very much looking forward to becoming a grandma and would, of course, support my children but I’m hoping that it’s maybe a little farther down the road,” she assured fans.
That moment is coming sooner rather than later for another Bachelorette star. News broke in September that Emily Maynard is about to be a grandma. Her daughter, Ricki, 20, is expecting her first child. She shared the news on social media.
Like Trista, Emily went full mama bear mode after the shocking backlash to her daughter’s news.
Trista Sutter discouraged her followers from clicking on the source of the rumors about her son. But she made it clear that the reports that she’s going to be a grandma are false.
