Golden Bachelor Couple Defends Lack Of Engagement

The second season of The Golden Bachelor got off to a rocky start. Former NFL player Mel Owens was chosen as the lead and immediately alienated Bachelor Nation fans with his comments about not wanting to date women over the age of 60.

Despite his preferences, he went ahead with the dating show and found love with Peg Munson, a retired firefighter from Las Vegas, Nevada. Despite their strong connection, Mel Owens declined to propose. Instead, he gave Mel Owens his final rose and an expensive ring as a placeholder for an engagement ring.

Peg Munson & Mel Owens Share Future Wedding Plans

Mel Owens and Peg Munson aren’t engaged and don’t have any set plans to get engaged. However, they’ve talked in depth about marriage. Peg Munson spilled all during a recent appearance on the She’s All Bach podcast.

“Have we talked about marriage? Yeah, we have! Because guess what? We’ve dated now and we really have that special connection. So that connection is there; we just didn’t want to rush it,” she said.

Peg Munson added,” Just because someone is telling us to get engaged or somebody is telling us to do it the way it’s supposed to be done, we had to be authentic and true to ourselves.”

The Golden Bachelor winner shared that the couple is “open” to having a televised wedding. However, their dream wedding is much smaller and low-key. “It’s going to be small. We’re not big — we’re not the big show people. If we do, we’ve been talking about maybe the beach, just having a really nice [day] with friends and family,” Peg Munson said about her dream wedding to Mel Owens.

Mel Owens did not go into his season well-liked by fans. However, he won many over, just as he won over his contestants. By the end of the season, viewers were rooting for the former NFL player to get a happy ending.
