Hayden Panettiere, the actress known for ‘Remember the Titans’, ‘Heroes’, and ‘Nashville,’ died Sunday at age 36. Her final Instagram post is now taking on new weight for the fans mourning her.
Officers and EMS personnel responded to a report of an unresponsive woman at the Judson Mill Lofts apartment complex in Greenville, South Carolina, on Aug. 16. Medical staff attempted to help her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said an acquaintance placed the 911 call, and the investigation remains ongoing alongside the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, per NBC News. Authorities have said the preliminary investigation shows no signs of foul play.
Her Father Shared A Statement On Her Passing

Panettiere’s father, Skip Panettiere, confirmed her death in a statement provided through her representative.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden,” he said. Her publicist, Kasey Kitchen, added that the cause of death was still under review. “There’s an investigation ongoing,” Kitchen said. “We should know more tomorrow.”
Days before her death, Panettiere shared what turned out to be her final Instagram post, a simple caption reflecting on time spent with a friend.
“Good times and good friends @randallslavin,” she wrote.

Panettiere first broke out as a child star and later became a household name playing Claire Bennet on ‘Heroes’ and Juliette Barnes on ‘Nashville’, roles that earned her two Golden Globe nominations. She is survived by her daughter, Kaya. Her brother, actor Jansen Panettiere, died in 2023 at age 28.
