A representative disclosed she had passed away in California on Saturday, October 11, and stated: “There are no further details available at this time, and her family has asked for privacy in this moment of great sadness.”
Supporters have overwhelmed her Instagram post with devastated messages. One admirer commented, “A true legend. Thank you for your talent, your animal advocacy, your immeasurable charm. You will be missed.”

Another person posted: “Dearest Diane, I will miss your style, humor, and grace. You are a true queen who paved the road for so many. We love you.”
The actress rocketed to stardom in the 1970s through her portrayal of Kay Adams in The Godfather trilogy, alongside her creative partnerships with Woody Allen.
She secured an Oscar for Allen’s groundbreaking film Annie Hall and became synonymous with the title character’s masculine-inspired fashion choices.
Her numerous cherished films featured The First Wives Club, Father Of The Bride, The Family Stone, and the Book Club series.
She earned Oscar nominations for her performances in Something’s Gotta Give, Marvin’s Room, and Reds, where she appeared alongside Warren Beatty.
Her cinematic debut occurred in the 1970s in Lovers and Other Strangers, but her major breakthrough arrived through Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather, playing the love interest of Al Pacino’s Michael Corleone in 1972.
She returned to the role in 1974’s The Godfather Part II and again for 1990’s The Godfather Part III.
Much of her professional journey was shaped by her numerous partnerships with Allen, her former romantic partner, with Annie Hall serving as the defining role of her career for countless admirers.
Observers theorized that the film drew from Keaton and Allen’s real-life romance, though Keaton clarified to The New York Times in 1977: “It’s not true, but there are elements of truth in it.”
Additional partnerships with Allen encompassed Manhattan, Sleeper, Manhattan Murder Mystery, and Play It Again, Sam.
She continued backing Allen following Mia Farrow’s allegations that he had mistreated their adopted daughter, Dylan. Keaton has frequently collaborated with Nancy Meyers, beginning with the 1987 film Baby Boom.
Their other joint ventures include the 1991 film Father of the Bride and its 1995 sequel, as well as the 2003 film Something’s Gotta Give.
In 1996, she shared the screen with Goldie Hawn and Bette Midler in The First Wives Club, a film about three women whose husbands have left them for younger women.
More recently, she teamed up with Jane Fonda, Mary Steenburgen, and Candice Bergen on the Book Club films. Keaton never married but adopted a daughter, Dexter, in 1996 and a son, Duke, four years later.
