It has been a very up-and-down time for Kelsea Ballerini. Fans have watched her on and off romance with Outer Banks star Chase Stokes. They were together for almost three years, and then they split, but seemed to reconcile. The duo then parted ways again, only to find their way back to one another. Kelsea and Chase seem to be meant to be, and the hope is that they can make it work as their fans appreciate their love. This could not have come at a better time because tragedy was about to strike, and she will need to lean on Chase more than ever.

The former Voice coach just announced the passing of her beloved pup, Dibs. She had mentioned that he was sick and was unsure how much time he had left. It was on August 28, 2024, that Kelsea shared that Dibs had inoperable heart cancer. Fans were broken for her, but Dibs stuck by Kelsea’s side, which was a beautiful miracle. Sadly, he has since gone to puppy heaven and crossed the rainbow bridge. Kelsea shared a series of sweet snaps and detailed her baby’s last days before he passed on Wednesday, January 7th, 2026. It seemed he was very peaceful, which is all that matters.

Dibs was highlighted throughout the years, and Kelsea Ballerini noted that this was the “greatest gift.” She knows how lucky she was to have had Dibs in her life and to be a dog mom.
