The actress appeared on Tuesday’s episode of the We Need to Talk podcast, where she claimed that maintaining her figure was a concern for production when she joined the show in Season 4.
“They would, like, circle around me to check my weight when I came back” at the beginning of each season, the Phantoms star told host Paul C. Brunson about her five-season run on the series.
Rose, 52, also said that she believed they were “inspecting their product.”
She further claimed that most didn’t bat an eyelash at that kind of behavior in those days, as it was considered “completely fine.”
Rose portrayed Paige Matthews on the series following Beverly Hills, 90210’s Shannen‘s firing at the end of Season 3.
The show, which aired for eight seasons from 1998 until 2006, also starred Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, Brian Krause, and Julian McMahon.
Alyssa, Holly, Shannen, and later Rose played sisters with specific supernatural powers.
Rose also shared during the podcast interview that she felt pressure to relax her style and fit into the role after Shannen’s departure.
“I knew the knives would be out,” she admitted. “That the fans would want … the person, the other character, that they loved.”
Rose and Shannen later formed a special bond, and Rose even guest-hosted Shannen’s podcast, Let’s Be Clear, in August 2024, shortly after the Little House on the Prairie alum died of cancer.
However, during her time on the show, Rose claimed that producers wanted her to feud with Shannen, but they both refused.
“They wanted me to start a war with her, and I was like, ‘Absolutely not. I will not start a war with her,’” the TV star said.
“And to her credit, she absolutely did not do that either.”
Before joining the Charmed cast, Rose was known for her numerous film roles, including The Doom Generation (1995), Scream (1996), and Jawbreaker (1999).
Around this time, the activist was also in a high-profile relationship with controversial musician Marilyn Manson, whom she was engaged to from 1999 to 2001.
She was also engaged to her Machete Kills director, Robert Rodriguez, in 2007, but they parted ways soon after.
Rose later married artist David Detail in 2013; however, their romance didn’t last, as they split in May 2015.
