On Saturday, the Towson University football team suffered a 45-9 defeat against the South Carolina Gamecocks.
The game was played away at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia. Unfortunately, the Tigers simply could not keep pace with their powerful SEC opponent.
Towson not only lost the game, but they also lost their punter for some time.

During yesterday’s game against South Carolina, Towson University punter Owen Scheihing suffered a painful arm and elbow injury.
This unfortunate incident occurred when South Carolina’s Vicari Swain returned a punt for a touchdown. Specifically, Swain rolled through defenders and leaped right past Scheihing at the goal line. At the same time, two players collided heavily in the end zone, and Swain landed on Scheihing’s back. Due to the intense impact, Scheihing had to leave the field on a medical cart.

Fortunately, he was able to sit upright while being driven away. Afterward, Towson head coach Pete Shinnick provided a grim update on his player. He admitted to reporters that the situation was all bad.
Grim Update On Scheihing
Towson head coach Pete Shinnick spoke about his injured punter following the game. He admitted to reporters that “it didn’t look good” for his freshman punter. Furthermore, Shinnick stated that Scheihing would be examined back on campus but “would likely require a cast on his injured arm.”
Furthermore, the punter will likely require a cast on his arm. Medical staff back on campus will evaluate him further to plan his recovery.
Before his sudden injury, Owen Scheihing had registered 17 punts and averaged 44.2 yards.
