Dallas Cowboys quarterback Joe Milton III has social media buzzing after throwing a 75-yard rocket to Jalen Brooks for a touchdown in practice.

On Apr. 3, the Cowboys acquired Milton and a seventh-round pick from the New England Patriots in exchange for a fifth-round selection. With Cooper Rush (Baltimore Ravens) and Trey Lance (Los Angeles Chargers) departing in free agency, Milton is slotted as the No. 2 quarterback on the Dallas depth chart behind Dak Prescott.

Milton made one start for the Patriots last season, completing 22 of 29 pass attempts for 241 yards, one touchdown and one rushing touchdown in a 23-16 Week 18 win over the Buffalo Bills, who rested most of their starters with the No. 2 seed locked up.

With a 6-foot-5 frame, a beautiful deep ball and a great set of wheels (299 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in his final year at Tennessee), Joe Milton was considered a potential sleeper in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Patriots selected him in the sixth round (193rd overall) after using the No. 3 pick on Drake Maye.

Jeff Kolb of FOX 4 News shared a video of Joe Milton displaying that rocket arm during Tuesday’s practice against the Cowboys, hitting the aforementioned Jalen Brooks for a 75-yard TD:

Milton’s highlight reel throw led to plenty of fascinating reactions from fans.

“He needs to be a starter in the league. Absolutely electric,” wrote a fan.

“Dude, that guy has a cannon!” said another.

“It’s a matter of time,” wrote a user.

“Milton will be starter by week 8 & never look back,” another said.

“Is it just me or this our guy?” a fan asked.

“We fleeced the pats. We gonna get a first round pick if we trade him,” another said.

Milton is expected to play in the Cowboys’ first preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday night (7:00 p.m. EST).

As a high-scoring team with a leaky defense, the Cowboys are sure to play in their fair share of lopsided games in 2025. That means Milton should get considerable action in garbage time, so he just has to wait patiently for his chance to shine.
