Ivanka Trump’s State of the Union outfit sets off debate.
Ivanka Trump became a matter of discussion after she posted a photo of what she wore to the State of the Union in Washington, D.C. She chose a silver and black sparkling dress, and many people quickly started talking about it on social media.
Ivanka posted the photo on her X handle with the caption, “Last night in DC.” The image spread fast. It pulled in more than 350,000 views within a short time. Many users focused less on the event and more on her outfit choice.
Her father, Donald Trump, spoke for nearly two hours during the State of the Union. He praised the country’s direction and also mentioned the US men’s Olympic hockey team during his remarks. “Our country is winning again,” Trump said about 15 minutes into his speech. He then pointed to the athletes in attendance and added, “To prove that point, here with us tonight is a group of winners who just made the entire nation proud: the men’s gold medal Olympic hockey team.”
Even though the speech focused on politics and national pride, much of the online conversation centered on Ivanka’s dress, although this was not the first time her dress had been noticed.
Online Critics Question Ivanka’s Fashion Choice

Many critics said Ivanka’s sparkling dress did not fit the serious tone of the State of the Union. Guests at the event often wear solid red or blue. Ivanka chose silver and black instead, and that difference started a lot of debate.
One critic wrote, “Your point? Is it the plastic surgery? Or the wall paper?”
Another added, “What in the Robotics of 2026 is this?”
A third user commented on Ivanka, “Wow, what was on the agenda?”
One person posted, “There are mannequins that look more alive.”
One user framed the criticism around everyday Americans. “Imagine being a poor, rural American. Are you seriously looking at Ivanka and saying to yourself ‘oh yeah, the Trump’s are totally working on my behalf’? Like fr?” the comment read.
The photo is still being shared online, and people are continuing to react. So far, Ivanka has not publicly responded.

“My father gave everything for this.” Fighting back tears, Alysa Liu shared an emotional tribute to her father, Arthur Liu, in a newly released video that’s quickly spreading online. A single dad who built their family through surrogacy and raised five children, Arthur devoted his savings, time, and energy to Alysa’s skating dream from the time she was five. “He spared no money, no time,” she said. “He believed in me before anyone else did.” Now an Olympic champion, Alysa says the responsibility has shifted. “I’m the pillar of my family now.
