Jeanie Buss’s siblings just responded to the growing ownership fight. Jim, Johnny, Janie, Joey and Jesse Buss released a joint statement through ESPN’s Shams Charania.
They made clear they remain united on selling the family’s remaining 17.8% stake. The move comes after Jeanie’s attorney signaled she will battle the sale. The statement opens with the siblings’ feelings regarding the organization.

“Johnny, Jimmy, Janie, Joey and Jesse have made the decision to sell the family’s remaining stake, and we remain united in that decision. We intend to move forward thoughtfully, respectfully and through the appropriate process.”
The group also praised the incoming owners.
“We have tremendous respect for Bob Iger and Josh Kushner and believe they understand what the Lakers represent to Los Angeles and our incredibly loyal fan base.”
They expressed confidence in the future.
“We are confident they will honor everything this franchise stands for while building upon the foundation our father created.”

The dispute stems from the recent majority sale. Mark Walter agreed to sell controlling interest to Bob Iger and Josh Kushner at a $12.5 billion valuation.
The Buss family retained 17.8% after an earlier deal with Walter. Five siblings want to exercise a tag-along provision and sell at the same valuation.
Jeanie Buss opposes the move. Her attorney cites a 2017 court order requiring her approval as a co-trustee. Selling would drop her below the 15% needed to stay as controlling owner and governor.
