Jenna Dewan Teases A Step Up Reunion With DWTS Partner Val Chmerkovskiy

Jenna Dewan was officially announced as part of Season 35 of Dancing With The Stars, and she will be paired up with the professional dancer Valentin “Val” Chmerkovskiy.
The time has come that all DWTS fans have been waiting for. Good Morning America announced the DWTS cast on Wednesday, September 2, and Dewan appeared alongside Val, and they appear ready to hit the dance floor with full force.
Dewan teased that she might bring in one of the iconic dances from the 2006 film Step Up, the movie for which she gained recognition as character Nora Clark. It comes as the entire cast of Dancing With the Stars Season 35 is confirmed.
“Tell us, will there be some Step Up in our future?” Dewan was asked on GMA on Wednesday morning.
Dewan’s dance skills rose to prominence when she starred in Step Up alongside co-star Channing Tatum, who played Tyler Gage.

“I know, yes, we have to, right? We have to…” Dewan answered, teasing that her fans could see some of the iconic choreography from Step Up mixed into her performances on DWTS.
“For sure, this is like such a crazy huge moment just for me to be dancing, I’m so grateful, but Step Up, it’s the 20th anniversary of it, we gotta throw it in somehow,” she continued.
“Maybe the club scene. That would be like a really fun moment. Or the ending scene,” Dewan told GMA.
“You’ll teach me some things. I’ll teach you things,” Val chimed in.

“I think there’s incredible expectation from Jenna, rightfully so,” he added, before a GMA host said, “They’re coming in hot!”
The Rookie actress recently shared a nostalgic post on Instagram to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the beloved movie. Dewan shared pictures from her time on set as well as a video of one of the iconic dances.
“Can’t believe it’s been 20 years since Step Up was released,” she wrote on the post. “The movie that changed my life forever. The way you guys love this movie all these years later is beyond.”
While she rose to fame in Step Up, which is considered her breakout role, she had a successful dancing career well before appearing on-screen in the Step Up franchise.
Before starring in Step Up, Dewan was a touring backup dancer for major superstars, including Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake. She also danced in music videos for Missy Elliot and Mandy Moore in the early 2000s.
Fans will just have to wait and see whether Dewan and Val implement some dance moves from her classic dance movies when DWTS premieres with back-to-back episodes on Tuesday, Sept. 15, and Wednesday, Sept. 16.
