ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit had an awkward and tremendously bizarre hot mic moment during the North Carolina Tar Heels-TCU Horned Frogs game on Monday evening.

The 56-year-old Kirk Herbstreit began “College GameDay” season on Saturday, working alongside the legendary Lee Corso for the latter’s final broadcast. Herbstreit is part of the star-studded “College GameDay” lineup that features Nick Saban, Pat McAfee, Desmond Howard and Rece Davis.

Herbstreit and Davis called the highly anticipated North Carolina-TCU game on Monday night, with Bill Belichick’s college football coaching debut serving as the main storyline. The game itself was stunningly lopsided, with TCU blowing out the home team 48-14 behind Josh Hoover’s two touchdown passes.

But Kirk Herbstreit briefly stole the show on Monday night thanks to a strange hot mic moment that happened on the air just before the start of the fourth quarter. Apparently believing they were still on commercial, Herbstreit was heard giggling before saying what sounded like, “They’re bad…ugh!.”
