Their friendship eventually developed into a romance, and the pair married in 1995, around five years after they first met.

They have since welcomed two children together, daughter Leila and son Nicholas. Roker is also the father of Courtney, his daughter from a previous marriage.

Both Roker and Roberts have maintained high-profile careers throughout their marriage. Roker has spent decades as a meteorologist and presenter on Today, becoming a familiar part of the programme’s morning lineup.

Roberts joined ABC News in 1995 after previously working for NBC News. Her career has included reporting and presenting across several of the network’s programmes.

Despite working for competing news organisations, the pair have regularly shared moments from their marriage and family life with followers. Their latest visit to Paris offered a more personal look at the beginning of their relationship.

Roberts posted a photograph showing herself and Roker sitting together at a cafe in the French capital. A plate of pommes frites could be seen on the table, along with several drinks.

The couple appeared relaxed as Roberts rested her head against her husband’s shoulder.

“Summer daze….in our special place …where our official love story began,” Roberts wrote in the caption.

She did not share further details about exactly what happened during that earlier visit or when they first realised their relationship had become romantic. However, her message made clear that Paris remains closely connected to the beginning of their life together.

The photograph also showed that the city continues to be somewhere the couple enjoys returning to many years after they married.

Paris has another important connection to the Roker family through their daughter, Leila.

Leila met her future husband, Sylvain Gricourt, while studying in Paris in 2018. Their relationship later led to two wedding celebrations, with ceremonies held in Paris and New Jersey.

That means the city where Roker and Roberts say their own love story officially started also became the setting for the beginning of their daughter’s relationship.

Roberts shared more from the trip through her Instagram Stories, including photographs and videos of the couple exploring Paris together.

In one clip, she commented on the tradition of Paris becoming noticeably quieter during August, when many residents leave the city for summer holidays. The quieter streets appeared to give Roberts and Roker more space to enjoy their surroundings without the usual crowds.

The couple used the opportunity to walk through the city and revisit some of its most recognisable areas.

Roker also shared updates from the holiday on his own social media account.

In one video, the Today personality filmed himself taking an early walk near the Eiffel Tower. The footage showed clear skies over Paris as he made his way through the city on a Saturday morning.

“A brisk walk on a beautiful #Paris #saturdaymorning,” Roker wrote.

He added that the sky was blue, although there was a light smell of wildfire smoke being carried through the area by the breeze.

The post offered a different view of the couple’s trip from the romantic cafe photograph shared by Roberts. While her update focused on the history of their relationship, Roker’s video captured an ordinary morning spent enjoying Paris on foot.

Their holiday comes during a period when several Today stars have been taking summer breaks from the programme.

For Roker and Roberts, however, the trip was more than simply an opportunity to get away from work. It allowed them to return to a city that has followed their family through more than one generation.

Paris was where they say their own official love story began. Years later, it was also where their daughter met the man she would eventually marry.
