Matthew Stafford’s wife, Kelly Stafford, gave a concerning update on her mental health during the latest episode of her podcast.

Kelly is one of the more popular and notable NFL players’ WAGs (wives and girlfriends), thanks to her successful “The Morning After with Kelly Stafford” podcast, which launched in 2021. She’s been married to Matthew Stafford since 2015, and the couple has four daughters.

Stafford’s Rams hosted the San Francisco 49ers on “Thursday Night Football”, looking to improve to 4-1 on the season. As Matthew prepared for the pivotal NFC West clash, Kelly provided a heartbreaking update on her well-being and will put the podcast on hiatus.

Speaking on the latest episode of “The Morning After” (h/t Jenna Lemoncelli of the New York Post), Kelly Stafford announced that she’s taking a hiatus from the podcast “for about a month.”

Kelly cited the need to focus on her mental health, adding that Matthew doesn’t even know she’s taking a break:

“For right now, just for somewhat of my mental health and it’s also midseason, there has been changes in this podcast. I just think I need to take a step back and kind of figure out what the plan is. I’m not saying this is over. I really need a second.

My husband doesn’t even know about this. I’m sure this will come as a surprise to him as well. I need to do this for myself first and also for everyone that surrounds me. I love you guys and I’m so grateful for everything that you have given me, which is honestly support and laughter through the DMs and making me feel seen and understood as a mom that struggles.”

Whatever Kelly is going through is nobody’s business, but we can only hope she takes care of herself and will feel better soon. Mental health is nothing to take lightly, and she should be praised for being open about a struggle that is awfully difficult for anyone to talk about.

2025 May Be Matthew Stafford’s Final NFL Season

After the Rams lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional Round, Matthew Stafford became the subject of offseason trade rumors. There was also speculation that the Super Bowl 56 champion would retire, but Stafford and the Rams decided to run it back for at least one more year.

Stafford is 37 but still playing at a high enough level. The Rams have an elite defense, a strong ground game and two star wideouts in Cooper Kupp and Davante Adams, so it’s not like Stafford has to do all the heavy lifting.

He certainly has the ability to keep playing, but the fact Stafford even considered retirement last offseason is a strong indicator that he’s not fully sold on playing beyond 2025.
