Carson Beck had already done so much in his first and only year with the Miami Hurricanes. There was just one more thing to accomplish on the field. However, he will never get to realize that.

The Miami Hurricanes quarterback drew attention after the National Championship loss to Indiana. He walked off the field without shaking hands with Fernando Mendoza. Following Indiana’s 27-21 National Championship win, several Miami players remained on the field to congratulate the Hoosiers.

Unfortunately, Miami Hurricanes star running back Mark Fletcher Jr. threw hands instead of shaking them after the game. ESPN’s cameras showed Fletcher punching Indiana defensive tackle Tyrique Tucker in the face. Even that moment couldn’t overshadow when Beck did.

Carson Beck’s college career ended with his last throw being an interception. That won’t be the decision that could end up haunting the Hurricanes’ star before his hopeful NFL journey begins in 2026. Beck became the center of scathing online backlash for failing to shake hands with opposing quarterback Fernando Mendoza.

Beck walked across Hard Rock Stadium as both teams remained on the field for postgame interviews and celebrations. It was a terrible look for him.

Carson Beck is already a legend for getting the Miami Hurricanes into the National Championship game. Nobody will hold it against him for losing to an undefeated team. Beck finished with 232 yards, one touchdown, and a fourth-quarter interception.

Beck, who graduated from college two years ago, has finally run out of time in college. He is projected to have made north of $3 million while at Miami this season. Beck now heads into preparation for the NFL Draft, where ESPN’s Mel Kiper ranks him as the No. 5 quarterback. That puts him behind Penn State’s Drew Allar, Ole Miss’ Trinidad Chambliss, Alabama’s Ty Simpson, and Mendoza.

The Hurricanes’ QB is projected to be a day 2 draft selection.
