WNBA fans had questions after a certain gentleman was seen speaking to Caitlin Clark in the Indiana Fever’s huddle during a recent game.

Clark is back on the floor after returning from injury, though she hasn’t quite been herself this time around, having previously made a huge splash after coming back from her initial fitness issues.

While she isn’t back to her best, the Fever have won two of their last three games, beating the Dallas Wings to move to 11-10 on Sunday after a win over the Atlanta Dream on Friday.

A photo has been in circulation over the last two days showing a bald man speaking to Indiana players, presumably during a timeout.

“Why tf is the team’s sports psychologist in a huddle in the middle of a game…,” an X user asked, sharing the image shown below:

Caitlin Clark And The Fever Owe A Lot To Ben Newman

The user altered their initial statement in the comments.

“Apologies, prob not his exact title but he’s a performance coach who focuses on the mental side of the game…” they wrote.

Of course, there were plenty of other comments too.

“Maybe cause all those players other than AB whine for 40 minutes a game and need it,” someone suggested.

“He probably could do a better job coaching, honestly😂😂,” one fan joked.

“Generously, mansplaining.  Hands on hips to intimidate CC.  They desperately need  dijonai carrington to deal with this a***hole,” another suggested.

So, the man in question is a mental performance coach named Ben Newman. He has been with the Fever for over 10 years, helping players achieve mental clarity, control their emotions, and continue to perform in high-pressure situations.

Newman has also worked with athletes across the NFL, NCAA, PGA, and UFC, and has been utilized by companies like Microsoft.

His presence on the sidelines during tense periods has caught attention, also bringing the importance of mental coaching to the forefront. It appears the Fever are benefitting from his work as they’re third in the East and could achieve something of note this season.

Discussing her recent surgery, she added: ‘I feel very grateful to have completely recovered.

‘I feel really good. I have a lot of people reaching out who have had the same thing.’

Davina McCall, 56, announced in November she’d been diagnosed with a colloid cyst, a rare type of benign brain tumour, and has supported Fearne.

She continued: ‘Everyone needs a Davina. She’s been amazing, weird that we had the same health thing going on at the same time. She’s so calming and we speak every day. She is just the best

It comes after Fearne has seemingly made another thinly-veiled dig at her ex-husband as she gushed that she is the happiest she’s ever been in a positive update.

Speaking to Scott Mills on his BBC Radio 2 breakfast show, Fearne gushed that she is ‘really happy’ and is ‘springing out of bed in the morning ready for life’.

Scott, who has known Fearne for 25 years, said he has never seen her ‘more positive or happier’, prompting Fearne to agree and reply: ‘Yeah I feel great!’
