Dua Lipa’s new Olympics promo for NBC is getting backlash.
NBC is receiving enough hate after choosing British pop star Dua Lipa to promote Team USA ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan.
The network showed the commercial during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and viewers quickly questioned why a non-American with British, Albanian, and Kosovan roots was fronting a U.S. campaign.
NBC has used big-name stars like Scarlett Johansson, Glen Powell, and Snoop Dogg to promote the Games. Dua Lipa’s ad got attention because Great Britain will compete against the U.S., and some fans said NBC should have picked an American star. On the other hand, many fans want Dua Lipa to perform at the Super Bowl LX halftime show.
Lipa appears in the promo inside Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. She wears a silver dress and a black fur coat while her song “Training Season” plays in the background.
She opens in Italian, saying, “Ciao ragazzi. Ci vediamo dopo, ok? Baci!” or “Hi guys. See you later, ok? Kisses!” before switching to English to highlight several American athletes she expects to perform well in Milan.

Lipa name-checks Lindsey Vonn, Alysa Liu, Mikaela Shiffrin, and Chloe Kim as she talks up the Games.
“They’ll put on quite a show,” she says during the clip. “The Winter Olympics? It’s going to be so cool.” She closes with “Ci vediamo lì,” or “See you there!”
The ad surprised many because Lipa holds citizenship in Britain, Albania, and Kosovo. And it raises questions why NBC picked an artist from countries competing against Team USA. The network has not responded to the criticism.
“As a global music and fashion icon, Dua Lipa perfectly embodies Milan’s spirit — cool, confident, and world-class,” said Joseph Lee from NBC for choosing her.
Lipa is currently on her Radical Optimism tour in South America after performing in Brazil last week, and was also seen wearing a tiny sequin bikini on the beach. After that, she also watched the Boca Juniors vs. River Plate Superclasico in Buenos Aires, wearing Argentina’s blue and white shirt. Her tour ends on December 5 in Mexico.
She also stays in the news for her relationship with actor Callum Turner. The couple began dating in January and got engaged in June. Turner told Vanity Fair, “There’s nothing hard about it at all. It’s the easiest thing in the world – it really is.”
NBC’s Olympic marketing is now a matter of discussion afterall. Whether the criticism will change anything is unclear, but fans are getting ready as the Winter Games approach.

“WHEN TWO COMEDIANS SIT DOWN AT A PIANO… SOMETHING ALWAYS BREAKS — AND IT’S USUALLY KORMAN.” It was supposed to be a quiet little sketch. Two pianos. Two professionals. Nothing dramatic. But the second Tim Conway glanced over with that tiny, dangerous smile… you could almost hear Korman’s soul leave his body. One wrong note. One mischievous pause. And suddenly Korman was fighting a losing battle with his own laughter — shaking, sweating, begging the universe to let him stay in character. The audience howled. The crew folded. Even the sound team nearly fell out of their chairs. And the best part? None of it was scripted. Not a single second.
