Philip Rivers hasn’t lost his sense of humor.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Philip Rivers opened his press conference with a hysterical four-word message that left reporters in stitches.
The Colts lost starting QB Daniel Jones for the season with a torn Achilles in Week 14 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. A day later, news broke that the Colts were hosting Philip Rivers for a workout.
Rivers, of course, last played an NFL snap in January 2021. But he was subsequently signed to the Colts’ practice squad and may actually end up playing against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
As the 43-year-old Rivers walked up to the podium, he began his press conference with a priceless four-word message.
“No Zoom?! Let’s go!” Rivers said.
Backup quarterback Anthony Richardson is still on the injured reserve. Third-stringer Riley Leonard, who finished Sunday’s game against Jacksonville, is dealing with a knee injury and is questionable for Week 15.
The Colts will name their starting quarterback later this week.

The Los Angeles Chargers opted not to retain Rivers after the 2019 season, ending their 16-year partnership. Rivers signed a one-year deal with the Colts in 2020 free agency, reuniting him with ex-Bolts OC Frank Reich.
Per Pro Football Reference, Rivers completed 68.0 percent of pass attempts for 4,169 yards, 24 touchdowns and 11 interceptions that year. He led the Colts to an 11-5 record and playoff berth, narrowly falling to the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card Round.
Rivers hasn’t played in five years, but he’s joining a star-studded Colts offense here. Jonathan Taylor is leading the league in rushing. Michael Pittman Jr., Josh Downs and Tyler Warren make up a deep group of pass-catchers. The offensive line is still one of the league’s best, too.
Philip Rivers wouldn’t have signed with Indy if he didn’t think he was physically capable of returning to football. Now, we wait and see if a remarkable comeback story is about to unfold.
