With James’ absence, all eyes naturally turn to Luka to maintain the Lakers’ rhythm in the early stretch of the season. Meanwhile, Luka spoke about the importance of maintaining a strong team mentality through adversity.

“It’s a big change. He’s a great player. He can help us a lot. But at the end of the day, our mentality needs to be next man up,” he said.

Luka Doncic Reveals Why He Was Limited In Practice

Last week, Doncic had been participating in modified practice sessions. He finally became a full participant in drills on Saturday. When asked about his limited workload earlier in the week, he explained that it was a matter of pacing himself after a long summer of competition.

“Just because I had national team. I played one month and something of basketball. So, obviously, it’s a long season again. So it’s because of that,” Luka said.

Lakers head coach JJ Redick recently confirmed that Doncic will participate in two preseason games. However, his status for the upcoming game against the Golden State Warriors remains uncertain. The Lakers are now 0-2 after their first two preseason games.
