Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins’ family has grown by one more!

The country singer, 35, and his wife, 36, have welcomed their fifth child — and first baby boy! — sharing the news in a sweet Instagram post on Friday, Feb. 27.

“Welcome to the world Brave ,” the couple wrote alongside a set of images that captured their newborn’s first moments, including a photo of baby Brave sleeping as he snuggled a stuffed animal.

“Oh. my. goodness. Our hearts are just in a big ole puddle with this precious baby BOY  ,” the proud parents continued. “Brave Elijah Akins was born last week at almost 10 pounds and almost 2 weeks early-thank you Jesus this big boy didn’t wait another 2 weeks to be born .”

The post also included pictures of Akins as she prepared to give birth, with Thomas Rhett comforting her by helping her onto the hospital bed in one photo, and touching her forehead in another. Once Brave arrived, Thomas Rhett is seen kissing his wife’s forehead as she holds their latest family addition.

In the caption of their announcement post, Akins praised Thomas Rhett for being her “biggest champion in labor & delivery.”

“He helped deliver him (), was the first one to see and tearfully, mixed with a bit of shock announce to us all in the room “It’s a BOY”.”

She ended with a note of gratitude, writing, “We are so grateful God chose us to have YOU cutie pie Your four sisters are smitten and we are completely over the moon in love with you big Brave boy .”

The couple is already parents to daughters Lillie Carolina, 4, Lennon Love, 6, Ada James, 8½, and Willa Gray, 10.

Back in September, the proud dad revealed that he and his wife were not going to find out the sex of their baby this time around in an interview with Taste of Country.

“Due date is in March and we are going to wait until the day of to figure out what the gender is,” said Thomas Rhett at the time. “It’s terrifying for me, but there’s not many surprises left in this world, and I feel that’s one that you kinda get to be surprised with, if you choose to.”

He also shared that their family may be done growing after they welcome their newest little one.

“I mean, five has kind of always been our number,” he said, joking, “anything above five, we will have to get a Sprinter van.”

Thomas Rhett and Akins revealed on Instagram in August that they’re expecting another baby. In their announcement video, the couple stood side-by-side as the country star updated his hit song “Life Changes” to share the happy news.

“Well, I was wrapping my head around being a dad. Big wrench got thrown in the plans that we thought we had. Now Lauren’s showing — got one on the way. That’s —” the soon-to-be dad of five paused, looking at his wife, before continuing, “five under 10. Hey what can I say? Yeah, life changes. You wake up ain’t nothing the same. Yeah, life changes.”

The couple, who met as kids in elementary school, briefly dated as teenagers before reconnecting in 2011. Six months later, Thomas Rhett proposed, and they tied the knot in October 2012.
