Sports influencer Rachel DeMita has hurt a lot of feelings with an update to her relationship status.
The former Division I player has nearly 2 million followers across Instagram, X, and TikTok. However, she has lost as many as 30,000 followers just because her personal life has reached a critical point.
DeMita is one of the most popular personalities in the basketball social media space. A ton of her fans are mostly drawn to her looks. Last year, DeMita, who played collegiately at Old Dominion, went viral while sporting a tight-fitting black bikini. She included various photos of herself, as well as the water and scenery during her trip.
That is just one of many reasons why fans love her. Unfortunately, it appears that those days might be ending.
Thousands of Followers Separate Themselves From Rachel DeMita

Rachel DeMita married former NBA player Andre Roberson. After announcing her marriage, DeMita lost about 30,000 followers, she told Front Office Sports.
“We’ve been together for a very long time. When I posted the wedding, I think it was 30,000—maybe a little bit more,” she told FOS.
“But honestly, I’m very happy in my personal life, and I don’t monitor social media like that. I would lose my mind if I was worried about how many followers I was gaining or losing. At the end of the day, I’m focused on making sure my content is really good. And my personal life is thriving. So if people are mad about that, totally fine. They can go follow somebody else who isn’t married.”
This is not uncommon on social media. Women who tend to show their bodies a lot get a lot of followers. The moment they announce a relationship, their followers start to disappear.
2025 was a contentious year for Rachel DeMita. She had previously landed an exclusive courtside commentator position for the BIG3. DeMita was tasked with giving basketball fans a behind-the-scenes look at the upstart league and amplifying the voices of its star-studded players.
Unfortunately, by the summer of 2025, her job would be gone. DeMita was fired after she tweeted about Caitlin Clark’s highlights happening at the same time as a game she was working on. On her X account, Rachel DeMita posted Caitlin Clark knocking down a logo three-pointer while she was actively working a Big3 game.
“I wasn’t under the impression those tweets would do any severe harm to the BIG3,” DeMita said at the time.
