The NFL summer landscape is reaching a boiling point. Recently, the Las Vegas Raiders experienced an incredibly volatile moment during the final periods of their afternoon practice session.
According to on-scene accounts published by major sports journalists, things got incredibly feisty during complex team drills. Specifically, Kirk Cousins sent shockwaves by getting right in the face of his primary defensive counterpart.

The underlying ignition for this specific gridiron confrontation stemmed from a highly physical defensive sequence. Previously, elite edge rusher Maxx Crosby successfully deflected a quick pass attempt directly in the backfield. To counter the aggressive defensive pressure, Kirk Cousins immediately lost his cool and physically grabbed the star defender’s jersey collar.
An intense shouting match ensued between the two passionate competitors. Crosby was then sent to the sideline for the remainder of the session. However, the quarterback remained on the field to complete the drive.
Head coach Klint Kubiak described the incident as standard training camp behavior. Additionally, both players were called leaders of the team who were going at it.

Last year, Maxx Crosby started 15 games and recorded 73 total tackles, 10.0 sacks, and his first career interception. He is back with the team despite being traded. Due to the tension created by the IR dispute, Crosby quietly requested a trade. In March 2026, the Raiders agreed to a blockbuster deal, sending their face of the franchise to the Baltimore Ravens.
In an unprecedented twist, just four days later, the Ravens backed out and canceled the completed trade. Baltimore’s medical staff officially failed Crosby on his physical due to lingering long-term concerns regarding his surgically repaired left knee.
