The Dancer Was Found Unresponsive In Their Home

Dancing with the Stars is a reality series based on the British program, Strictly Come Dancing. The Los Angeles-based version of the show, which premiered in 2005, recently wrapped up its 34th season.

The original British series is itself a spin-off of the Come Dancing series. Over the years, various international versions of the show have been created.

Recently, it has been announced that Léo Blanco, a dancer and choreographer who appeared on the Brazilian edition of the show, has passed away. Blanco was reportedly found dead inside his Curitiba flat on Friday, January 9.

At this time, no cause of death has been shared, though reports have claimed Blanco dealt with depression prior to his death. He was 47 years old at the time of his death.

Blanco grew up in Cascavel, Brazil, and led two dance companies while attending a university. He got his big break when he joined Dança dos Famosos. In 2017, Blanco was paired with actress Mariana Xavier. The two ultimately came in seventh place during the show’s 14th season.

Fans Have Been Sharing Their Tributes To Léo Blanco On Social Media

Since the news has come out, Mariana has taken to social media to share an emotional tribute to the dancer. According to the actress, he helped make her dream come true. She shared, “He was my teacher on Dança dos Famosos in 2017, but more than that, he was the best partner I could have had in making that dream come true – a dream that was his as well.”

The actress continued to describe Blanco as “One of the kindest, most generous people I’ve met along my journey. Someone who stayed in my heart and in my life, even when we weren’t in touch all that often.”

 

As shared by The U.S. Sun, Blanco had over 90,000 followers on Instagram. Since the news of his passing, many fans have also been sharing their tributes to the star online. Some comments included “Can’t believe what I just read. You were one of the best people in my world,” and “You were always a dear one, rest in peace.”
