Saying bad things about Charlie Kirk can get you fired from your job, while saying good things about the conservative influencer can get you hate messages.
It seems to be a lose-lose situation.
Former ESPN star Sam Ponder is finding this out the hard way.
Ponder, who worked at the Worldwide Leader for over a decade and got fired, revealed last week that she received a flood of disturbing messages after she mourned the 31-year-old conservative activist, who was assassinated at a campus event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.
“I mourn for Charlie’s family. I mourn for our country,” Ponder wrote in part on X.
“But I have renewed hope that many, like me, will find the courage to lovingly speak the truth boldly in the public square, as he often did.”
Just days after writing about Charlie Kirk, the former “Sunday NFL Countdown” host said she had received the DMs she had received.
“My DMs are more disturbing than ever (and trust me, that’s sayin something). Apparently, only perfect people can be mourned when they’re murd3red in their 30s with a wife and young children,” she wrote in part.
“When a man is sh0t, debating opinions with anyone for all to see, he must align with our chosen dogma perfectly. If not, he had it coming/shouldn’t have said those mean things, so you should shut up about it. How can we see someone post about sadness over the d3ath of ANYONE they cared about, even someone we think was flawed, and say ‘Stop being sad about them. I didn’t like their opinions.’ Mourn with those who mourn. If I ever see hypocrisy, let me see it in myself.
“God forbid every word we’ve ever spoken be the prerequisite for sympathy when we di3.”
Many Have Lost Their Jobs Due To Posts About Charlie Kirk

We might have freedom of speech, but we certainly do not have freedom from consequences.
People who celebrate the k%lling of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk should be held accountable, US Vice-President JD Vance has previously stated. That is certainly happening by the hundreds.
Office Depot fired employees at a Michigan branch after a viral video showed staff refusing to print posters for a Kirk vigil.
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy fired an intern over his concerning post about Kirk.
Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Jada McLean liked a hateful post on Instagram where it called Charlie Kirk a fascist & a racist. She is still with a job as of this moment.
The firings have even happened in the NFL after the Carolina Panthers axed a member of staff following his sharing of an insensitive post in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s k%lling.

“My father gave everything for this.” Fighting back tears, Alysa Liu shared an emotional tribute to her father, Arthur Liu, in a newly released video that’s quickly spreading online. A single dad who built their family through surrogacy and raised five children, Arthur devoted his savings, time, and energy to Alysa’s skating dream from the time she was five. “He spared no money, no time,” she said. “He believed in me before anyone else did.” Now an Olympic champion, Alysa says the responsibility has shifted. “I’m the pillar of my family now. It’s my turn.” The clip ends with her father visibly emotional, delivering a quiet message of his own — one that viewers say is even more powerful than the medal itself.
