Paige Shiver is still employed by the University of Michigan.

Paige Shiver had an improper relationship with Sherrone Moore. The head coach was fired because of it. Shiver still remains with her cushy job.

She saw a significant pay increase when she worked as the executive assistant to Moore. Her annual pay jumped from $58,025 to $90,000. She was promoted to the role of Executive Assistant to the Head Coach in November 2024.

She was hired in 2022 as Assistant Recruiting & Operations Coordinator. Sherrone Moore being fired and Shiver still having a job has many pondering.

It turns out that a policy change might be the reason for Shiver keeping her job. When asked by USA Today why she wasn’t fired, the university pointed to Policy No. 201.97. This policy establishes guidelines for supervisor-employee relationships within the school.

It says a supervisor cannot, ‘implicitly or explicitly, initiate or attempt to initiate an intimate relationship with a supervisee.’ That policy was adopted in 2020. It came after accusations involving university provost Martin Philbert. He was accused of sexually harassing multiple people at the school. That included employees and graduate students who worked in his lab.

An investigation developed a standalone policy. it ‘explicitly focused on consensual relationships between employees in positions of unequal authority.’

Michigan developed Policy 201.97. It ‘Recognizing that Intimate Relationships exist or may develop in the workplace that are not initiated by a Supervisor and are free from coercion and abuse of power, immediate disclosure of the relationship by the Supervisor is required,’ the policy states.

‘Failure of the Supervisor to disclose an Intimate Relationship is a serious offense and cause for discipline, up to and including dismissal from employment.’

The policy also added, ‘Although encouraged, Supervisees have no obligation to disclose.’ This is due to the potential for retaliation. It added that the influence of supervisors could lead to job loss or reduced pay.

In the meantime, Sherrone Moore has more pressing issues. He was charged with felony third-degree home invasion and two misdemeanors.

That included stalking in a domestic relationship and breaking and entering. The arraignment offered a window into Moore’s actions after he was fired for cause due to an “inappropriate relationship with a staff member.”

He has been ordered not to contact Paige Shiver.
