Shaquille O'Neal gets real about his biggest regret, sharing the haunting moment that still affects him years after his NBA careerShaquille O’Neal (Photo by Jason Getz/Imagn Images)
Shaquille O’Neal has been a legend that everyone loves. With his incredible performance on the court, O’Neal earned a fair bit of wealth to live a luxurious life. However, while the 53-year-old lives in a lavish mansion now, is he really happy within? In his recent appearance on ‘The Big Podcast With Shaq,’ O’Neal stated the most important mistakes of his life that he still regrets to this date.

O’Neal was asked if he was the ‘next voice’ in relationship and parenting. The Lakers’ legend immediately shrugged it off. He accepted his flaws and stated that one of his biggest mistakes was ‘ruining his family.’ Calling himself ‘dumb’, O’Neal stressed the importance of having a family.

I am the voice for those that made a lot of mistakes and want to recover from the mistakes. I always say my biggest mistake was ruining my family by being dumb, and a man’s job is to protect, provide, and love.Everything I think in relationships is cause and effect. Because I was doing the dumb stuff, now I’m in a 30,000 square foot house by myself. So, it’s not that I’m an expert. I just tell my stories that I have to tell because I want people to learn and understand,” O’Neal reflected.

What O’Neal was referring to was his failed marriage to Shaunie Nelson. Back in 2002, O’Neal and Nelson tied the knot. They also shared four children among them. Unfortunately, in 2007, ‘Big Shaq’ opted for a divorce. And although he withdrew his plea, the couple ultimately got separated in 2011. Meanwhile, even after his divorce, O’Neal was linked to several other women.

Before his marriage to Shaunie Nelson, O’Neal dated Arnetta Yardbourgh. After the fallout with Nelson, ‘Big Diesel’ dated the likes of Laticia Rolle and Nicole Alexander. And that was not all. Back in 2019, Shaq was rumored to be in a romantic relationship with Annie Ilonzeh.
