Megyn Kelly Recently Touched On A 2013 Today Segment Featuring Nancy Guthrie

Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today‘s Savannah Guthrie, has been missing since January 31. She was last seen that day from her Tucson, Arizona, home.

With her reported missing on February 1, police believe that Nancy was abducted from her home. Since then, Savannah has stepped away from her role on Today, as she and her family have gotten involved in the search.

Fox News alum Megyn Kelly has covered the story during various episodes of her podcast series. Recently, she shared her concern over resurfaced footage from Today back in 2013, which showcased Nancy’s bedroom.

During the segment, Nancy tried to share tips with viewers on making the bed. However, Kelly shared concern that the segment could have been used as a “road map” to abduct her, noting that the layout of the room was on display.

Megyn Also Looked Back At Her Own Time With Today

Kelly herself has a background with Today, having been the host of Megyn Kelly Today. Looking back at her time on the show, she mused that she understands a pressure that might impact other people on the show. She explained, “This is the thing, you guys. I mentioned this to you, but having been at the Today show for a short time, they do really lean on you to overshare.”

Kelly’s NBC show aired as Today‘s third hour from September 2017 to October 2018. The show was canceled after making on-air comments defending the use of blackface for Halloween costumes. NBC terminated her employment in early 2019.

Kelly continued, “They leaned on me to overshare. It’s not born out of nefarious intent. They want the audience to feel like they know you. And I get that, but you have to be really careful.”

During the share, Kelly noted that various figures on the show have also shown off their children on the program. However, she felt that featuring Savannah’s own mother was a bit unprecedented. She shared, “Because prior to this, nobody ever thought their mom could be potentially endangered, you know? This is a whole new kind of crime.”

As noted by TV Insider, Nancy has appeared on Today many times since her daughter became a co-host in 2011. This included appearing with her daughter for a cooking segment in 2016, a wine-tasting segment in 2019, and a 2015 segment that featured the mother and daughter visiting Savannah’s birthplace: Melbourne, Australia.
