A newly released trailer features old footage from America’s Next Top Model, which premiered on UPN in 2003, including Cycle 6 winner Danielle, 40, undergoing a serious makeover.

During her time on the show, the model was forced to get extensive cosmetic work to remove what Tyra, 52, claimed was a problematic gap in her front teeth.

Danielle appeared in the trailer, released by Entertainment Weekly, to reflect on that moment as well as others.

She called certain elements of ANTM “horrific” and confessed she thought a lot of it was “so f**ked up.”

“It’s a TV show to you guys, but this is my life,” she says in the teaser for Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model.

SPEAKING OUT

The trailer focuses heavily on the controversy surrounding the show, with supermodel Tyra, photographer Nigel, Miss J, and Jay, all speaking candidly about it.

“I haven’t really said much. But, now it’s time,” Tyra says in the preview.

Since it stopped airing in 2018, fans have revisited wild ANTM moments online a number of times.

During the pandemic, some former viewers recalled one photoshoot in particular in which contestants had photos altered to make them appear another ethnicity.

Contestants on the show were also body shamed frequently.

Tyra admits in the trailer, “I knew I went too far.”

She tells viewers her hopes for the show were for it to be revolutionary in fashion, confessing that it turned out different than she thought.

“I wanted to fight against the fashion industry,” Tyra says.

Elsewhere in the preview she says, “It was intense but you guys were demanding it, so we kept pushing.”

SPEAK ON IT

ANTM producer Ken Mok will also appear in Netflix’s Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model.

In the trailer, he says, “There was a moment I realized, ‘Oh my god, I think we’ve built a monster.’”

Seemingly speaking directly on the decision to alter contestants’ appearances in photos, Miss J says, “Baby girl, baby girl!”

Jay, for his part, added, “I realized Tyra would do anything for the success of her show.”

Elsewhere in the trailer, he appears to discuss his shocking dismissal from the show after the Cycle 18 premiere, which aired in 2012.
