Good Morning America’s chief meteorologist is hitting back at trolls. Ginger Zee, 44, posted a behind-the-scenes video of herself on set on Instagram. She is featured wearing a yellow dress as she explains a series of severe storms that will hit the Midwest this week. Online haters took to the comments to criticize Zee’s appearance. Ginger Zee  Talks Eating Disorder

This isn’t the first time Ginger Zee has been trolled online for her appearance. In 2021, she posted a video of herself on X in a striped dress celebrating her return to the Good Morning America set after the COVID-19 shutdowns. She was told that she was too skinny. One critic said, “I wish Hollywood would stop putting pressure on women to be this skinny.” Ginger said she had “weighed the same” for 20 years. Zee has been open about her struggle with an eating disorder as a child, and comments like this are likely triggering for her.

As a public figure, Ginger Zee has had to defend herself against comments on her appearance. This latest troll is just the most recent in a long line of negative comments she has had to deal with. It sets a good example that she is standing up for herself against the negativity that exists on the internet. Thankfully, Ginger Zee has a large following that supports her when she stands up against these nasty comments.

Ginger Zee Claps Back

Chief meteorologist Ginger Zee is letting trolls know she will take no nonsense from them. After posting a short clip of herself on Instagram, the Good Morning America host was the target of trolls. One critic told her,  “You’re not aging well.” Zee responded, “What a privilege to be aging in any manner — thanks for your opinion, though.” Ginger didn’t just clap back. She took things a step further. She screenshotted the exchange and posted it on Instagram Threads. Ginger explained:

“You know you are in a good place when you genuinely believe your response, and I do. What a privilege to be able to be alive. No matter how you perceive my aging, I’m proud of it.”

Supporters took to the comments to show Ginger Zee they disagreed with the troll.

One person commented, “Darling, you are aging wonderfully.”
Another said, “You look great. You’re successful. Smart. Self-assured. I was a fan when you were in Chicago. Ignore the naysayers.”
A third said, “Honey, don’t let anyone put you down. You are a beautiful woman and if others don’t feel that way, they have the option to not look.”

Ginger Zee has been honest with her fans about her struggles with depression and her attempted suicide at the age of 21. During Mental Health Awareness Month in 2020, she opened up about her struggles and how she faced them. She expressed the importance of getting help and finding healthy coping strategies. Standing up for herself against negative comments is a coping skill that reframes negative thoughts and helps show her commenters it is not ok to treat her poorly just because she is in the spotlight.
