TMZ Sports reported that Campbell was wearing a partially unzipped life vest at the time of his drowning. His body was found on the sand near the water’s edge of the beach.

She revealed that Campbell was a health-conscious individual who was capable of swimming and had no history of drug or alcohol abuse.

“Campbell’s wife told investigators the former hooper prioritized his health, was able to swim and had no history of drug or alcohol abuse. The wife did note he had a history of Type II diabetes and high cholesterol … but did not complain of any health-related issues prior to his death,” Via TMZ Sports.

Campbell played 15 seasons in his professional NBA career, mainly with the Los Angeles Lakers. He won the NBA Championship while playing for the Detroit Pistons in the 2003-04 NBA season.
