The 2026 Golden Globes delivered plenty of headline-worthy moments, particularly host Nikki Glaser’s opening monologue, which included a sharp jab at CBS following the network’s tumultuous year.
The comedian cleverly rebranded the network as the ‘BS’ news outlet through clever wordplay. After quipping that the US Justice Department deserved ‘best editing’ honors for their handling of the Epstein files controversy, she declared that CBS earned the prize for most editing.
“Yes, CBS news,” she stated. “America’s newest place to see BS news.”
The Golden Globes crowd erupted in laughter. Back home, viewers took to social media to respond to the dig.
“Lmaooo she’s already torching everybody tonight savage asf,” one viewer commented. Another posted, “She’s not holding back,” with a third adding, “NIKKI GLASER CLOCKING CBS NEWS ON CBS YAS GIRL.
“She’s torching CBS already, brutal lol,” another viewer chuckled. “Nikki Glaser slayed her monologue as it’s hilarious…she called out CBS & CBS News for spreading fake news & misinformation!” someone else observed.
One supporter urged, “Nikki Glaser, Your monologue is amazing! Keep crushing it!” Another remarked, “I like nikki glaser more than many many past hosts and also that cbs joke on cbs did make me oooo a little!”
A final viewer commented, “Nikki Glaser dragging CBS’ a– right from the start.”

As one viewer pointed out, Nikki was addressing the controversy engulfing CBS in 2025. The network announced that it would be pulling the plug on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in May 2026, citing financial pressures and changes in the late-night television landscape as the reasons for the decision.
However, the timing raised eyebrows as it came after Colbert criticized CBS’s parent company, Paramount Global, for settling a lawsuit with President Donald Trump.
While CBS maintained that the decision had nothing to do with Colbert’s political stance, many believed the cancellation was a direct response to the television host calling the settlement a ‘big fat bribe. ‘
The 41-year-old comedian returned to host the 2026 Golden Globes for a second consecutive year. Nikki made history the previous year as the first woman to host the prestigious ceremony solo at the 2025 Golden Globes.
“Hosting the Golden Globes this year was without a doubt the most fun I have ever had in my career,” the Trainwreck star said in a statement, per the official Golden Globes website ahead of the awards show’s premiere on January 11, 2026. “I can’t wait to do it again, and this time in front of the team from ‘The White Lotus,’ who will finally recognize my talent and cast me in Season Four as a Scandinavian Pilates instructor with a shadowy past.”
Following the announcement of the 2026 Golden Globes nominations in early December, it generated significant discussion across social media platforms. The 2026 Golden Globe honorees included Gary Oldman, who received a nod for Best Male Actor for his role in Slow Horses, Netflix’s Adolescence, which was recognized as the Best Limited Series, and Ariana Grande, who was nominated for Best Supporting Female Actor for her performance in the sequel to Wicked, among others.
