When he was a judge on American Idol, Simon Cowell never seemed to be the cuddly dad type. Fans were taken aback when he became a father in 2014. His now-fiancée, Lauren Silverman, gave birth to their son, Eric. The America’s Got Talent judge recently made a shocking admission about his 11-year-old son.

Simon Cowell Makes Shocking Admission About 11-Year-Old Son

During his time on American Idol, Simon Cowell did not hold back when giving aspiring singers criticism. He was often harsh, especially to those he felt didn’t have talent. The Brit recently expressed regret about his behavior on the reality competition. However, he told Rolling Stone that he would treat his own son the same way.

Years after playing an essential role in the formation of One Direction, Simon Cowell sought the next huge boy band on Netflix’s docuseries Simon Cowell: The Next Act. He used his home in Miami, Florida, as a training ground for the next musical sensation.

The harsh critic revealed that he would be just as blunt if his own son, Eric, wanted to pursue a career in music without having the talent. “If Eric, my son, said, ‘Dad, I want to be a singer,’ and he sang to me and every note was outta tune, I would say, ‘Darling, you can’t sing.’ I wouldn’t lie to him,” Simon Cowell told Rolling Stone.

He added, “But it’s kinder to be really clear to someone who has zero talent.” His son is only 11 and hasn’t expressed interest in music so far. But that might change someday.

American Idol Judge Takes ‘Control’ Over Wedding To Lauren Silverman

Simon Cowell went public with his romance with Lauren Silverman in 2013. He popped the question in 2021. Netflix cameras caught the moment she signed paperwork to legally change her last name to Cowell, despite not yet tying the knot.

An insider spilled to the National Enquirer that the American Idol alum wants to give his fiance the wedding of her dreams and he’s prepared to shell out the big bucks to make it happen. But he’ll reportedly have a more hands-on approach than most grooms.

“Most guys with that attitude would just be happy and let the bride plan it but not Simon. He’s already told her he will have 100% control, to the point [that some of the ‘I Do’ details] will even be a surprise to her,” an insider told the National Enquirer.

The couple has yet to send out wedding invitations or reveal a wedding date. However, it’s going to happen at some point. Does it surprise you that Simon Cowell would be as harsh on his own son as he was on American Idol contestants? Sound off in the comments.
