The resemblance is unbelievable.

Sports fans are in stitches after discovering that Dallas Stars goalie and Team USA hockey Olympian Jake Oettinger looks exactly like the late Charlie Kirk.

Tuesday marked five months since Charlie Kirk was assassinated during a public event at Utah Valley University. The shooter, Tyler Robinson, later turned himself in and faces a possible death penalty.

More than 90,000 people attended Kirk’s funeral in Glendale, Arizona, on Sept. 21, including President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance. Kirk is survived by his wife, Erika, and their two young children.

On Tuesday, the USA Hockey X/Twitter account posted a graphic of Jake Oettinger ahead of their round robin opener against Latvia:

Fans were shocked over the stunning resemblance between Oettinger and Kirk:

“Bro please tell me I’m not tripping,” a user said.

“I still see him everywhere i look,” wrote another.

“why does jake oettinger look like charlie kirk is this a new revelation or something,” a fan added.

“Imagine being Jake Oettinger and seeing the entire twt feed covered in people saying you look like Charlie Kirk 😭😭😭😭😭😭,” wrote another.

Jake Oettiner was also part of Team USA in the 4 Nations Face-Off last year. He played in their final round-robin game against Sweden, stopping 21 shots in a 2-1 loss.

Per ESPN’s Emily Kaplan, it appears that Connor Hellebuyck will get the start for the Americans against Latvia. This is no surprise, as Hellebuyck was USA’s primary goalie at the 4 Nations Face-Off a year ago.

Both goalies are having disappointing seasons for their standards, though. Hellebuyck, a three-time Vezina Trophy winner, has a career-worst .900 save percentage and a lousy 2.79 goals against average.

But “Otter” hasn’t fared much better this season, despite the Stars’ place near the top of the NHL standings. He has a 2.73 goals against average and a .897 save percentage, both career worsts.

The Americans will need one of these goalies at their best if they’re to win gold in men’s hockey at the Olympics for the first time since 1980.
