Doris Burke is a prominent figure in the world of basketball broadcasting, but she is facing major backlash over what they think she uttered out of her mouth.

She is currently the lead NBA analyst for ESPN and ABC and has been part of the network’s top NBA broadcast team, alongside Mike Breen and Richard Jefferson.

After a dismal display on their home floor, the New York Knicks were back for another shot at the Boston Celtics in Game 4 of the NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Late in the contest, Knicks star Mikal Bridges made a running jump shot while the shot clock was going down. Madison Square Garden went insane.

During the replay, Doris Burke decided to send the broadcast into a commercial with a one-liner.

She said, “You know who it hasn’t been a nightmare for: The New York Knickerbockers.”

A lot of fans had their ears perk up as they assumed she stated something else. In reality, that is the full name of the actual team, but we only call them the Knicks for obvious reasons.

The actual name is just way too close to saying a racial slur, which is why fans and broadcasters almost never say it.

How Social Media Reacted To Doris Burke

“Not the hard R 😭😭😭,” one fan said of Doris saying that on live TV.

“Knickerbocker bro, it means New Yorker,” a second fan stated.

“Buzzer tried to censor it to save her career,” a third person wrote.

“She should be fired for being a white supremacist,” a fourth fan said of Doris Burke.

“Dorris is uncancelable. Don’t do my baby like that,” one final fan added.
