The Indiana Fever player reveals how she is managing these recovery moments

Sophie Cunningham continues to work through the recovery process after the ligament tear she suffered at the end of the most recent season, one that concluded with the Las Vegas Aces, who eliminated her team in the semifinals, lifting the championship trophy. The journey back has been long and winding for the Fever player, who understands the difficulty of overcoming an injury that kept her off the court during the final stretch. The exercises she must perform to move past the injury are tedious, uncomfortable, and challenging for any athlete.
As she navigates these hurdles, Sophie shared with her followers the playlist that helps her handle this ordeal with more control and a better mood. She offered fans her Apple Music list, which includes artists such as Post Malone, Shaboozey, Kenny Chesney, and Luke Bryan, along with a substantial dose of country music. The playlist is public and can be listened to by anyone who wishes. For Cunningham, singing while she trains serves as an important form of therapy, helping her release the stress that can build up during long hours in the gym.

She expressed this in one of her Instagram stories.

Training is the key to Sophie Cunningham’s improvement
Last August, she suffered an MCL injury, and since then, she has endured long and difficult training sessions designed to rebuild strength throughout her body so she can return next season performing at her highest level. It was on August 17 when she sustained the injury that forced her away from WNBA action and even required surgery to repair the damage suffered during a game against the Connecticut Sun.
Yet this is not the only complicated situation Sophie Cunningham is facing, as she is also entering unrestricted free agency for the first time in her career and still has no clarity about where her future lies. The player has expressed interest in continuing to play alongside Caitlin Clark with the Fever, but her wishes alone do not dictate the outcome; many other factors are involved.
It is worth remembering that she entered the WNBA in 2019 and spent six years with the Phoenix Mercury before being traded to the Indiana Fever this year. Now, she must wait to see how things evolve both physically and contractually to learn whether she will remain in Indiana or embark on a new chapter elsewhere in the league.
