Caitlin Clark might be down, but she is not out.
For the second consecutive year, the Indiana Fever guard received the most fan votes for the WNBA All-Star Game and will once again play in the league’s annual contest of its best players.
The WNBA announced on Sunday that Clark and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Napheesa Collier will serve as captains of this year’s All-Star Game. Clark earned 1,293,526 votes from fans, with Collier close behind at 1,176,020.
It truly serves as a testament to how far the league has truly come.
Clark’s more than 1.2 million votes are also the most in WNBA history for the All-Star Game, eclipsing her previous record from the previous year.
The game will be held at the Fever’s home court, Gainbridge Fieldhouse, in Indianapolis on July 19.
The remaining eight starters for the All-Star Game will also be announced on Monday.
Sophie Cunningham, who was traded from the Phoenix Mercury to the Indiana Fever this offseason, had a one-word reaction to the big All-Star Game announcement involving Caitlin Clark.
“Gang,” she wrote.
During last year’s All-Star Game, Clark recorded four points (2-of-9 FG, 0-of-7 3PT) and 10 assists in 26 minutes of work.

Clark told reporters Sunday that she is “day-to-day” as she works her way back from a left groin strain that has kept her out of her team’s last two games.
“I feel good, I’m gonna be day-to-day from here on out, and doing everything I can to put myself in a position to play the next game every single time,” Clark said after practice.
The Fever are scheduled to take the court again on Tuesday against the Minnesota Lynx in the Commissioner’s Cup championship game.
Clark has not played since June 24, when she was held to a season-low six points in a win over the Seattle Storm.
