Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding guest speaks out after ‘tacky’ buffet criticism

Jennifer Nettles has become the latest guest to open up about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding amid ongoing criticism of the couple’s buffet choices.
The Sugarland singer was present at the grand Madison Square Garden ceremony in New York City and expressed her appreciation for witnessing Taylor and Travis tie the knot.
“To be a part of even a small part of their story for me was super special because, obviously, these are two people who are at the absolute top of their industry, the top of their game, the top of their craft, the top of their artistry,” Jennifer shared. This follows reports that Taylor and Travis’ wedding attendees were surprised by a “tacky” buffet.
Speaking to People Magazine, Jennifer added, “It’s such an important time in their lives. To be able to witness that very special moment, it’s beautiful.”
Jennifer discussed the wedding while attending the July 10 opening night of her off-Broadway production, Giulia: The Poison Queen of Palermo.

Her comments follow social media backlash, where some critics labeled elements of the wedding reception “tacky,” particularly the couple’s buffet arrangement.
Jennifer made no mention of the catering or addressed the controversy directly. Rather, she focused on her surprise at receiving an invitation.
Jennifer and Taylor have maintained a friendship spanning several years. Taylor wrote Sugarland’s 2018 track Babe and featured on the recording.
“It all surprised me, because of course, no one knew anything,” Jennifer said of the wedding plans. “I guess people had, there were leaks here and there where people were guessing, but no one knew for sure where we were going until much closer to the time.”

Approximately 1,000 guests are believed to have attended the ceremony, featuring prominent figures from the music industry, athletics and entertainment.
Taylor, 36, and Travis, also 36, each reportedly spent roughly 20 minutes reading their vows from gold books. Adam Sandler officiated the wedding. Taylor’s brother, Austin, acted as her man of honor, while Travis’ brother, Jason, stood as his best man.
Jennifer expressed that the invitation held special significance given her connection with Taylor and her admiration for the artist’s accomplishments. She said she was “so proud” to have been “even a little part of her story.”
Jennifer also said she has “such an admiration” for Taylor’s work.
Jennifer had previously commented publicly on Taylor and Travis’ romance prior to their nuptials.
In February 2024, she expressed her wishes for Taylor to discover happiness in her romantic life.
“Taylor is such a lovely human being, and I want her to find love just like everybody else,” the singer said at the time. “I am invested in that for her.”
